About us

Your AI team, built for the businesses that run the real economy.

Dovetail AI is a small, founder-run firm based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We help small and mid-sized businesses and local governments use AI in a way that actually pays off, instead of adding another subscription no one can explain.

Why we exist

AI adoption is a translation problem, not a technology problem.

The tools are already good enough. The hard part is figuring out where they fit in a specific business, building that, and making sure the team can use it without a technical background.

That translation is the reason Dovetail exists.

Who we work with

Not tech companies. The ones with a stretched back office.

Businesses and public teams with real work to do and not enough hours in the day to do it.

  • Trades
  • Construction
  • Logistics
  • Accounting practices
  • Clinics
  • Real-estate teams
  • Municipal governments
  • Non-profits

How we work

Four things we hold ourselves to.

The right AI, not one vendor.

We aren't tied to any single tool. We recommend what fits your team, your work and your budget.

Start where it pays off.

We look at how your business really spends its time, then find the few places AI is worth the effort.

Your team runs it.

We train your people so the value doesn't walk out the door with one person, or with us.

We stay on.

AI changes every week, and so does your business. We keep your team and your automations in step.

The founders

Founder-run, so you work with us directly.

Mitchell Barker

Co-founder

Mitchell has spent his career where technology meets local government, helping cities across North America, including Vancouver, Surrey and Austin, modernize permitting and speed up housing approvals with AI and cloud software. He brings that public-sector experience to every Dovetail engagement, from city hall to the small businesses that keep a community running.

Devin Gannon

Co-founder

Devin builds AI tools that people keep using after launch. He leads AI integration and enablement at a major Canadian telecom, where his work has saved 1,300+ hours a year and turned weeks-long manual processes into same-day work. Before that he was a product manager and a sales engineer. At Dovetail he leads the build and the training.

Why we share what we know

Most of what we know, we give away.

The more owners understand what's actually possible, the easier our real work becomes. A business that already gets the basics is a better business to help.

And not everyone is ready to hire someone. No one should have to in order to get started.
